The Amber Alert came about because of the kidnap and murder of Amber Hagerman in Texas. Here is a link to her site www.amberplan.net
Earlier this year preident Bush signed the child protect act. This act federalizes the Amber Alert and makes other provisions for child safety. Amber's mom was there at the signing as well as Elizabeth Smart and the two CA teens who were abducted and raped this past year.
