sadly a man named John Couey confessed to Jessie's murder and told police where to find her body. My thoughts and prayers are with the Lunsford family.

The trial of John Evander Couey the man who burried Jessie alive began today with jury selection. They got a change of venue, so, the trial will take place in Miami 300 miles away from the scene. Procecuters are seaking the death penalty.

Yesterday March 1,2007 was the first day of testimony in the Couey trial. In spite of the fact that his confession was thrown out because he asked for a lawyer and was still questioned. A confession made to corrections officers in jail has been allowed in after a pretrial hearing on it's admisabilty.

Couey was found guilty of 1st degree murder,kidnapping and rape of a child under 12. The penalty phase begins Tues. 3/13/07.

The jury recomended the death penalty for Couey.
