Doe Network: Case File 1290DFMD
Police were told Karen's father and her grandmother, who has since died, reported the disappearance to police, but detectives don't have records of that report. Checks of computer systems have been unable to verify Karen Kamsch's existence since 1976. On May 15, 2007, police formally filed a missing-person report. According to school officials Karen attended Brooklyn Park Senior High School through at least June 1976. After talking to family members, police have reason to think Karen may have been abused. Detectives believe her disappearance is suspicious in nature and she may have been murdered.
She had moved in grandma due to problems at home.

Anne Arundel County police confirmed yesterday that last week's search of a Pasadena property was tied to the 1976 disappearance of a 14-year-old girl who they now suspect was the victim of a homicide. Police said yesterday that the Aug. 29 search at 51 Wishing Rock Rd. stemmed from the disappearance of Karen Beth Kamsch, who reportedly disappeared from that address 31 years ago. Police declined to say what the search uncovered. Media questions about the case would be answered at a news conference scheduled for today, police said. Police said the investigation was triggered by an individual who called them May 14 about Karen. Karen's name did not come up in computer databases searched by authorities. Since the filing of an official missing person report May 15, police said, homicide detectives have "conducted numerous interviews with family, friends, and schoolmates of Karen." "Through these interviews, information has developed that leads detectives to suspect that Karen's disappearance is suspicious in nature and fear she was the victim of a homicide," police said. Police said that a birth certificate indicates that a Karen Beth Kamsch was born Jan. 19, 1962, in Baltimore and that records show she attended Brooklyn Park Senior School in June 1976. Police said the person who contacted them May 14 "indicated Karen Kamsch had moved in with her grandmother, Olga Kamsch, at the Wishing Rock Road address after having problems with her family." Police did not identify the caller. Police said it was determined that "during an unknown winter month in 1976, Olga Kamsch was called by school officials and told that Karen Kamsch was absent from school. "Olga Kamsch responded to the residence and discovered that Karen Kamsch was not home," the statement said. "Upon checking the residence, Olga Kamsch discovered Karen Kamsch's personal belongings, along with her winter coat, were still in her room." www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/04/AR2007090401867_pf.htmlwww.wjla.com/news/stories/0907/452863.html
