Update: Here is a snipit of a story on this case That I am unable to link. My thanks to Pro quest and their archives of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. Marie Amato searched the neighborhood, knocking on doors and asking if anyone had seen her son.
When she did not find him, she pressed Michelle to tell her more. The child confessed. Andrew was in the woods.
It was about 1:15 p.m.
Marie Amato called the police.
Police arrived, followed by rescue and fire personnel. By mid-afternoon, hundreds of volunteers and emergency personnel were searching the woods. The next day, police searched the Amatos' mobile home. As Marie Amato listened, an officer speculated about how she or Leo might have disposed of their boy's body.
During the first few days of the search, Andrew's loyal little dog also disappeared, never to be found.
