I have a new NE Unsolved Tonight: Theresa Corley
Full Disclosure. I knew Theresa Corley.
In the late 1970's, I was a teenager working at Star Market in Franklin, MA. It was my first regular paying job.
Theresa Corley was a cashier, and I was a shy bag boy.
Everyone I knew loved Theresa Corley. She was full of energy, funny, kind, with a sharp wit. I remember thinking she looked like a red headed Stevie Nicks, the lead singer for the 70's supergroup Fleetwood Mac. Believe me when I tell you, the pictures I'm posting don't do her full justice. But it's all we have.
I knew Theresa in my distant past. Another lifetime ago.
But here's the thing. Theresa never got the chance to finish one lifetime, let alone two or three.
In the first week of December 1978, Theresa Corley was murdered. Her naked body was discovered on the side of Route 495 in Bellingham, her hometown. Theresa was strangled.
Theresa's killer has never been found.
When we first started New England's Unsolved, Theresa's case was one of the first ones I wanted to cover. And over the years, I've gotten to know a lot about her case, much more than I ever wanted to know.
Theresa was just trying to get home the night she was killed. Instead, she was sexually assaulted by one or three men (it's still not clear) in Franklin, and then, while still trying to get home, police believe someone saw her on the side of the road in downtown Bellingham, picked her up, and strangled the life out of her.
Thank You Bob
